Hope Rose CollectionLeSportsac Introduces New "Hope Rose" Collection to Benefit OCRFrose 

This September, LeSportsac continues its cancer awareness program, "The Hope Collection," with the introduction of a new print designed exclusively for OCRF. The "Hope Rose" collection, featuring a universal floral on a black background, with memorable pops of plum and OCRF's signature teal, is available in 28 styles, including an assortment of cosmetics, handbags, totes, and weekenders, as well as a Hope Rose Teal Ribbon Charm. Hope Embroidery, a showcase piece, is a plum rectangular cosmetic with the word "hope" embroidered in teal, along with a teal grosgrain ribbon.

Q&A with Maria Barbolina, Ph.D., Liz Tilberis Early Career Award Recipientq 

Dr. Maria Barbolina is a 2013 OCRF Liz Tilberis Early Career Award Grant Recipient focusing her efforts on better understanding a protein called the fraktaline receptor, which is expressed in most epithelial ovarian cancers, in hopes of identifying a potential drug target. In this interview with OCRF's Sarah DeFeo, Dr. Barbolina discusses why she chose to enter the field of ovarian cancer research, and what it means to receive a grant from OCRF. Read more.

Weiping Zou, M.D., Ph.D.

OCRF Researchers Find Some Immune Cells Aid Cancer Growthaid 

A new OCRF-funded study from senior author Weiping Zou, M.D., Ph.D., and researchers at the University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center found that a subset of immune cells, called myeloid derived suppressor cells, do more harm than good by providing a niche where the cancer stem cells survive. The research is published in the journal Immunity. Read more.

 

Helq Gene Increases Ovarian Cancer Riskhelq 

Researchers in the UK have identified a gene in mice that, if faulty, may increase the chance of developing ovarian cancer. The findings were published in the journal Nature. Read more.

Ovarian Cycle Indoor RideReady. Set. Ride! with OCRF's Ovarian Cycle Events in Austin and NYC this September

Now for the first time, you can Ready. Set. Ride! for research during Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, as OCRF's Ovarian Cycle hosts rides in Austin, Texas, and New York City. There's still time to reserve an indoor bike at CYC in Austin on September 22nd, or at Soul West 77 on September 28th.

With registration and a fundraising minimum pledge, participants will receive an event t-shirt and gift bag loaded with goodies, plus an unforgettable day complete with food, refreshments, and other surprises in an energy-filled room packed with people riding for the cause. OCRF Team Hope All-Starsstz

 

Memorial FundraiserOn June 8th, supporters in Bethesda, Maryland, gathered at Brickside Food and Drink to raise money and awareness at the 5th Annual Beth Walton Memorial Fundraiser. Guests enjoyed complimentary appetizers, drink specials, and a silent auction. Survivor gifts and silent auction items were generously donated from Etsy community sponsors, and donations were collected at the door. By event's end, $8,000 was raised for OCRF. Thank you and congratulations to everyone involved in this fantastic event!
